The South African Mint’s Thinus Scheepers and Warren Pula will this year take part in a climb of over 5000m altitude up Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. This climb, famously referred to as the Trek4Mandela challenge, aims to raise funds and create awareness for the Caring4Girls initiative.
Thinus and Warran are joining more than forty other climbers who will summit Kilimanjaro on July 18, in celebration of Madiba’s 100th year birthday, to ensure that more than 500 000 girls will not miss a single day in school because of the lack of a basic necessity, a sanitary towel.
This initiative will empower a girl child and restore her dignity.
The South African Mint’s 2018 charity climbers are following in the footsteps of Mike Gradwell (2015),Tumi Tsehlo and Gawie Herholdt (2016) who paved the South African Mint way to Kilimanjaro.
