COVID-19 Communiqué from the Managing Director

Dear client,

In light of the growing COVID-19 pandemic and President Cyril Ramaphosa’s declaration of a ‘National State of Disaster’, the South African Mint Company has with immediate effect cancelled all public tours to the museum until further notice.

Our retail store, Coin World, will however continue to operate as usual, with the following measures implemented to help curb the spread of the virus:

All entry points to the South African Mint have been equipped with hand sanitizer dispensers or manual pumps. All visitors are required to use the hand sanitizer at the main entrance.

We encourage everyone entering the premises to follow hygienic practice by making use of the hand sanitizer (or thoroughly washing their hands with soap and water on arrival) and refrain from touching their faces.

A thermal infra-red fever screening camera will be installed in the main reception, by Wednesday 18 March 2020 to detect high body temperatures, which may indicate the presence of a fever – identified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) as one of the symptoms of the Coronavirus. Entry will be denied to all visitors with a high body temperature reading.

We continue to monitor the rapidly evolving situation around COVID-19 and to actively follow the guidance and safety recommendations of the Department of Health.

We thank you for your continued support and compliance with all the preventative measures in place.

Yours Faithfully,

Honey Mamabolo
Managing Director
