This 2017-dated 50th Krugerrand anniversary set contains a 50 oz and a 5 oz 22-carat gold proof coin together with a 1967 1oz vintage 22-carat gold coin and a 1 oz fine-platinum proof coin, all issued for the first time in 2017 as part of the wider 50th anniversary celebrations of the Krugerrand.
The 1967 1 oz vintage 22-carat coin was manufactured using reproduced dies from the original tooling used to manufacture the first Krugerrands in 1967 and the privy mark ‘LT SARB 2017’ was added to authenticate this coin as legal tender.
Included in this set is a book by D F Malan, telling the story of the Krugerrand.
