This year, we have partnered with a new art fair, LATITUDES, to showcase an exhibition of early career artists with no gallery representation called INDEPENDENT.
The Mint will also exhibit the work of the six artists behind the SA25 coin range marking 25 years of our democracy.
At the Fair, the newly-released uncirculated 6-coin set consisting of all the six commemorative circulation coins will be on sale for R295 per set.
Take the time to visit LATITUDES Art Fair this weekend from Friday, 13th until Sunday 15th September 2019.
After nearly 12 and a half years of service at the South African Mint, managing director Tumi Tsehlo has decided to pursue new challenges.
We officially said goodbye to Tumi at the end of August, but if you were not able to attend the August voice forum and missed Tumi’s official farewell message, we have inserted it for you below.
In the interim, we wish Gerda Janse van Vuuren well in her acting MD position, and offer her all our support as members of the SA Mint community.
Greetings colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I inform you that I will be stepping down from my role as Managing Director of the South African Mint on 31 August 2019. After nearly 12 and a half years of service at the Mint, the time has arrived for me to pursue new challenges. It has been a great privilege for me to be a part of this esteemed organisation. It is an honour that I will cherish for my entire life with great pride. It has given me immense pleasure to have the opportunity to contribute to this organisation’s legacy during that time.
Over and above the role, I will most cherish the warmth that I have experienced during my time at the Mint. Since my arrival at the Mint I have been treated like family by all of you. It is not an understatement that I have developed such close relationships with so many of you it feels like I have known you all my life. Through the Mint my friendships now extend from Limpopo and continue to spread out throughout the country and the whole world.
My family and I have grown so much as a result of and since I joined the Mint. My son was born in the first month of me joining the Mint. He has only known me in relation to my role at the Mint. So this is a big change for my family too. They will miss the Mint.
I am grateful for opportunities granted to me to contribute my talents here at the Mint and help shape it into the organisation of our dreams. I am proud of what we have achieved during that time. I am most grateful for your contributions to pursuing this dream I am referring to. Your commitment and dedication is what made the time that I spent at the Mint worthwhile. Add to that the immense talent that lies in this organisation and you see how it is possible that we could create the kind of organisation that we have today. Thank you.
I have grown a great deal. It is indeed on the back of my experience here that I have been able to carve out a path for the next phase of my professional life.
A personal thank you to Pradeep for his complete trust in me and exco. I wish to express my appreciation to the Board, including past members that believed in us and entrusted us with the responsibility to be the custodians and stewards of this business. The GEC under the Governor’s leadership supported our agenda and provided us with the mandate to pursue our commercialisation strategy.
Special thank you to the executive team. Your passion and dedication to this company inspired me a lot. I am very pleased that the company will be left in good hands.
It has been a great privilege. Thank you. Rea leboga.
Yours sincerely,
Tumi Tsehlo
The South African Mint recently hosted a sports day at the Denel sports grounds in Centurion. Both soccer and netball teams from Ford, the South African Reserve Bank and the South African Mint came together to battle it out for the number one position.
Supporters of all sides also came in their numbers to cheer their teams on, and although victory was not ours on the fields, we can definitely pat ourselves on the back for a beautiful, well-organised event. This event helped to strengthen existing relationships between the companies and helped create new ones, and of course, the participating teams were left singing our praises!
