Having spent over 10 weeks in a national lockdown, we have had to adjust to new ways of working, including home schooling or studying and still being faced with other demands of life. Thankfully, some things remain such as our annual celebrations of the outstanding achievements, individual performance, leadership and team work of our colleagues.
The Mint has always believed that exceptional contributions and accomplishments of individuals and teams to the objectives and success of the company should be recognised, celebrated and rewarded significantly. To this end, the South African Mint Excellence Awards are presented to those Minters that demonstrate fineness and live the values that drive our organisation throughout the year.
Contenders for these awards are nominated by colleagues according to various criteria such as performance, innovation and impact, with the executives given the tough task of selecting the winners.
These winners also automatically qualify to represent the Mint at the prestigious South African Reserve Bank Governor’s Awards and we wish them the best of luck.
The health, safety and well-being of all staff has remained the company’s biggest priority since the country was declared to be in a state of natural disaster in March. As a result, a big majority of us can only applaud the award winners from our homes.
Meanwhile, a few colleagues continue to brave the Mint premises to produce circulation coins to build buffer stocks and ensure the security of coin supply to the SARB and the country. A sincere THANK YOU to all these essential workers who have worked on site throughout the various stages of the lock down period. Your commitment and service during these unsettling and demanding times is invaluable and greatly appreciated!
The current work-from-home arrangement might only change in a few months, meaning that many people will have to continue juggling work, home and school. A heartfelt THANK YOU to you too for your patience and understanding. Should you feel emotionally or psychologically incapacitated at any time, remember that the ICAS team remains on standby to support you and members of your family during this period.
Remember that any employee wishing to enter the Mint premises need to apply for access.
